Free whole-configuration tool
Put complete chainring and rear-sprocket inventories beside each other. Keep the intermediate steps, wheel reference and unresolved component questions visible instead of comparing only two endpoints. The result is a numerical discussion sheet, not a recommended drivetrain.
Free · no account or saved bike · page memory · no automatic upload or copying
Open the blank gearing workspace →Whole inventory · one deliberate reference · no ranking
Compare 2–4 technical declarations without a saved bike or body measurements. Tooth arithmetic, wheel-dependent models and component evidence stay separate. Blank conditions stay unknown; no option is selected for installation.
Page memory only: no save, upload, automatic copying or entered URL values. Reload, closing or leaving loses this workspace. Text is for parts/references, not rider/contact/health details. Input limits support the model, not fit or market availability.
Name each exact technical configuration and the source of its front and rear tooth counts. Enter every ring and sprocket you want retained. Commas separate whole tooth counts, not decimal values. The workspace supports one to three distinct front entries and one to sixteen distinct rear entries per configuration. Those are computational input limits, not evidence that any entered combination exists, shifts correctly or is permitted by a manufacturer.
Every front/rear pairing remains in the result, including two different pairs that happen to share a ratio. Their numerical order runs from smaller to larger F/R. That order is not a shift sequence and does not authorize cross-chaining. A shared-scale diagram helps compare the numerical distributions; ordinary HTML retains all the pair identities and displayed values.
A tooth ratio can be calculated even when the rest of the transmission is unresolved. Development and circumference-equivalent gear inches need a declared rolling circumference and steady engaged direct chain drive without an additional stage. An internal hub, crank gearbox or other multiplier is outside this model. Selecting Unknown preserves the tooth inventory but withholds wheel-dependent values; a nominal wheel name or loaded support height is never substituted.
Optional crank-axis length affects the separately labelled gain ratio, not F/R or development. It does not describe torque, rider effort, saddle travel or joint angles. Missing crank length leaves gain unknown while other supported quantities can remain. Recheck the measurement convention and conditions at the source rather than turning an approximate wheel label into a verified circumference.
The overall ratio-style range is high divided by low, expressed as a percentage. The percentage increase subtracts one first. A single numerical ratio therefore has a range of 100% and an increase of 0%. Adjacent steps use the previous lower ratio as their denominator; equal ratios have a zero step without losing either identity.
Choose a reference tooth pair deliberately if you want signed comparisons. That choice means only a denominator, not a preferred gear. Optional reference cadence enables an inverse same-speed comparison when both configurations have supported development values. Different wheel circumferences matter: matching tooth ratios alone do not establish matching rolling distance. This is conditional arithmetic, not a measured speed, a suitable cadence, a hill-climbing result or a performance prediction.
Total tooth difference, front difference, smallest rear sprocket and largest rear sprocket are independent comparisons. Enter an exact applicable source alongside any optional bound. A numerical conflict remains visible, and a passed inequality is labelled only as a relation to that declared bound. It does not confirm cassette/driver/hub permission, chain and controls, frame clearance, chain length or installation.
Review the complete note before choosing a separate TXT download. All included technical declarations, unknowns, pairs and limitations stay together. The review itself creates no stored bicycle or recipient message. Download folders and external applications may keep or sync copies; editing, closing or leaving cannot recall them. Do not include rider, contact or health information. For real component decisions use current exact instructions and appropriate physical inspection, not this mathematical sheet.
