1. Provider and scope
The provider is Mateusz Konieczny — Balance IT, ul. Święty Marcin 29 lok. 8, 61-806 Poznań, Poland, NIP 7812090221, REGON 541862820; contact[email protected]. These terms govern the free website, calculator, camera movement estimate, repeatability-gated cross-session camera comparison, guided bike-coordinate, structured cockpit-datum and contact-detail capture, dated bike-passport comparison, optional on-device inclinometer, local fit journal, bike-linked crank/cleat/saddle/cockpit/handlebar-control, saddle-tilt and hood-position history, exact component-reference library, printable setup card, mechanic work-order generator, local bike-passport dashboard and post-ride follow-up queue, resumable staged multi-bike transfer, stem/spacer trial and measured re-check tools, educational guides and feedback form at openbikefit.com.
2. Starting and ending the service
A free electronic-services agreement starts when you open or use a feature. No account or payment is required. You may end it at any time by closing the site; you can also delete local fit data inSettings & privacy. The terms are available before and during use in a format you can save or print.
3. Technical requirements and risks

You need a current JavaScript-capable browser and internet access. Camera features require HTTPS, camera permission, a compatible device and enough processing power. The optional inclinometer additionally requires a compatible orientation sensor and may require motion/orientation permission; every angle workflow also supports manual entry. Saving progress requires first-party browser storage; offline use requires the service worker/cache. Browser, operating-system, network or device limitations can reduce accuracy or availability.
Protect access to your device and exported JSON files. A saved transfer working draft can contain frozen bike setup snapshots and unfinished measurements for up to 30 days. Pending cleat and saddle trial records can also resume their frozen target and installation stage for up to 30 days; final re-check readings restart blank after a refresh so a stale value cannot be mistaken for a fresh physical measurement. Clearing browser data deletes local sessions, bike profiles, working drafts and linked history events. Like all web software, the service can contain defects; keep your browser updated and stop using a feature if it behaves unexpectedly.
4. Health and mechanical safety

Results are confidence-rated starting hypotheses based on self-reported inputs and two-dimensional pose estimation. They do not determine the cause of pain or prove that a position is safe. A safety-screen red flag pauses automated fitting. Severe or worsening symptoms, persistent numbness, weakness, circulation signs, recent trauma or inability to pedal comfortably require appropriate professional assessment; call local emergency services when urgent.
Independent recordings are compared for internal agreement before hardware advice is shown. Agreement can repeat a systematic camera or setup error, so it is not laboratory validation, a guarantee of accuracy, or evidence that an adjustment will improve comfort. An inconsistent condition keeps concrete hardware advice locked.
Cross-session camera comparison requires two independently confirmed dates, the same frozen material bike passport and the same saved view, analysis mode, pose engine and measurement protocol. A difference beyond the two dates' combined observed noise is a neutral movement observation, not evidence of its cause, an improvement, deterioration, diagnosis or safe fit. Matching saved protocol fields do not prove identical physical phone placement, cadence, hand position, fatigue, lighting or rider condition between dates.
Make only small, reversible changes, record the original position, follow the bicycle/component manufacturer's torque limits and minimum-insertion marks, and stop if symptoms worsen or control is affected. The service does not replace a qualified bike fitter, physiotherapist or clinician.
A recorded saddle or hood angle is a repeatable setup measurement, not proof of accuracy, an ideal position or a recommendation to move hardware. Before loosening a clamp, use the component manufacturer's instructions and exact torque specification. After a hood/control change, verify that the lever cannot rotate, hoses or housings remain safe through the full steering range, and braking and shifting function correctly before riding. Do not improvise a torque value or continue with damaged, slipping or incompatible parts.
A structured cockpit datum records the points and method you declared; it does not prove that the bicycle was level, that a reading is accurate, or that two differently shaped cockpits provide equivalent hand contact. Cleat, saddle fore–aft and saddle-tilt keep/revert guidance remains locked until the exact frozen plan has a local installation record and fresh repeated final measurement. These records are not a mechanical inspection or a fit verdict.
A dated passport comparison reports only differences between locally recorded states. It does not prove which state was correctly measured, mechanically possible, safer or better for the rider. Cockpit transfer remains blocked when the saved datum points or methods differ, and a matching text record is not a physical inspection.
A modeled stem or spacer coordinate is geometry, not a measurement of the installed handlebar or a fit verdict. Fork, steerer, compression-plug, spacer and stem compatibility, permitted stack, clamp engagement and torque sequence must come from the exact bicycle and component instructions. Do not cut a steerer, exceed the documented spacer arrangement, improvise a preload or ride before steering, headset play, bar security, cable/hose clearance, braking and shifting have all been checked. A saved installation checkbox or work-order reference is your own local record; it is not inspection, certification or confirmation by Balance IT.
A manufacturer/model label, manual URL, procedure title or torque note in the component library is text supplied by the user. OpenBikeFit does not establish that it is current, authentic, applicable to the installed variant or sufficient for the work. A generated work order arranges frozen targets and reversal baselines for discussion with a qualified mechanic; it is not an installation instruction, compatibility decision, inspection, sign-off or substitute for the current component and bicycle documentation. The follow-up queue counts rides and opens the source workflow only. Reaching its date or ride target does not mean the bike, rider or adjustment is safe or successful.
Crank-swap geometry preserves only the declared bottom-of-stroke pedal-to-saddle distance in a simplified model. It does not predict joint angles, comfort, power, injury risk or compatibility. The exact crankset, axle, bottom bracket, chainline, frame, chainring and pedal interfaces, clearances and torque procedures must be checked against current manufacturer documentation by a competent person. A keep or revert record is accepted only after fresh measurements from the frozen saddle reference; it is not a mechanical inspection or safety certification.

Third-party libraries and cited research retain their respective rights. Nothing here grants rights to the OpenBikeFit or Balance IT marks beyond ordinary reference to the service.
7. Availability and responsibility
We aim to keep the service accurate and available but do not promise uninterrupted operation or a particular fit, comfort, performance or health outcome. To the extent permitted by law, Balance IT is not responsible for losses caused by ignoring safety warnings, incorrect measurements, unsupported devices, user-made mechanical errors or third-party outages. These terms do not exclude rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded, especially consumer rights and liability for intentional harm.
8. Complaints and governing law
Send complaints to [email protected] with the affected feature, date, device/browser and expected resolution; do not attach health records. We will respond within 14 days. Polish law applies, without depriving consumers of mandatory protection in their country of residence. Consumers may use competent consumer-protection bodies and courts under applicable law.
9. Changes
Material changes will be dated and published here. They apply prospectively. If a change affects an ongoing service in a way that requires notice or consent, we will provide it as required by law; otherwise you may stop using the service at any time.
