Bike fit cost: compare service quotes, inclusions and follow-up
Read the actual package before comparing the fee. A twelve-question scope record, dated provider listings and two fictional quotations keep appointments, bikes, extras, unresolved charges and follow-up separate.

Choose the information task
Read the separate method guide
Calculator estimates, recorded movement, physical records and human review have different evidence boundaries. No personal values or service choices are carried.
Open toolHow much does a bike fit cost? There is no useful single answer until the service is named. A short consultation, a session on one existing bicycle, a two-bike package, pre-purchase sizing, remote review and a later revisit can all be sold under similar wording. A currency amount without those distinctions cannot tell you what you will receive or what still needs paying for.
This guide helps you read a service offer, not choose a position or diagnose a problem. It does not recommend a studio, certify a practitioner, determine whether an appointment is appropriate for you or promise a financial or riding return. The price snapshots are narrow observations of published listings. Reading them starts no booking, sends no inquiry and supplies no personal measurements.
Start with the question you want the service to answer
Write the question in plain language before looking at the equipment photograph. You might want a documented record of your existing bicycle, someone to interpret a recording, a comparison of purchase candidates, or a hands-on appointment with a named deliverable. These are not interchangeable. Asking whether a particular bike model can reproduce recorded contact points is different from asking someone to assess a rider or perform a mechanical change.
Separate the information task from an action on a bicycle. A report may describe observations without including parts, installation or a road test. A fitting appointment may include some adjustments but not every operation required by a proposed change. Ask who performs each action and what happens if the required component or procedure is outside that person’s agreed scope. Do not infer permission to assemble anything from a price or diagram.
Keep twelve quotation questions together
Use one record for each provider and each version of an offer. Retain the date, page or written response, exact package name and the answer to every question in the ledger below. A blank answer is an open question, not a zero charge. The record is deliberately broader than a comparison of hour counts: it asks what is delivered and what remains your responsibility.
A provider may need more information before quoting. You can first ask about the service structure without sending body measurements, riding videos or a health history. If you later choose to share personal material, use the provider’s own explained process and review its data notice. This public guide does not provide a secure intake channel or authorize sharing another person’s record.
Service and provider
Which named offer and responsible provider does the fee refer to?
A technology name is not the whole service.
Question and scope
What question will be addressed and what is outside the work?
A fit, sizing and a workshop task are different scopes.
Rider and bicycles
How many people, bikes and configurations are included?
A second bicycle is not automatically a follow-up.
Appointment and duration
One visit or several; contact time or total reserved work?
A longer slot is not proof of better measurement.
Observation and review
What material is observed and who actually reviews it?
An automated report is not a human consultation.
Physical changes
Which actual changes, if any, will be performed and checked?
A proposed coordinate does not approve installation.
Parts and consumables
Which items are included, separate or not yet priced?
Not stated does not mean free.
Workshop labour
Who performs any additional mechanical work and for what charge?
Do not turn an unknown charge into zero.
Report and access
What named record is delivered, when and in which format?
Seeing a screen is not receiving a permanent record.
Follow-up
Which window, contact, reviewer, output and additional charge apply?
Support included alone does not resolve the scope.
Fee and approval
Currency, stated taxes, deposit, balance and approval for extras?
A listed fee is not a confirmed final quotation.
Booking and preparation
What must be brought, and what are the actual change/cancel arrangements?
Ask the provider; this guide grants no entitlement.
Read published listings as dated examples
The three source cards are examples read on 26 October 2026, not a representative survey. They retain original currencies and service distinctions. A season heading, package label or stated duration belongs to its own source. None establishes current appointment availability, eligibility, taxes, refunds, every inclusion or a future price. Follow the source and obtain the actual terms before committing money or travel.
Cycle Heaven’s page separates one-bike, two-bike and later additional-bike services. Dekalog distinguishes road/gravel/MTB, time-trial/triathlon, another bicycle and an hourly consultation. VeloLAB lists different named packages with different durations. Those distinctions are useful even if a fee changes tomorrow: the correct comparison is between explicit scopes, not between the smallest numbers on unrelated pages. Provider marketing outcomes are not adopted here.

Separate one appointment from a package of appointments
A listing can describe contact time in the studio, total work across visits, an estimated session length or a maximum reserved slot. Preparation, processing, written reporting and later review may be inside or outside that time. Record which interpretation is actually stated. Do not divide an uncertain package total by an assumed number of hours and treat the result as a comparable rate.
A longer appointment is not evidence of better decisions, and a shorter one is not evidence of equivalent work done efficiently. The unresolved facts are the question addressed, material observed, work performed, output supplied and responsibility accepted. If a provider advertises a technology name, ask how it is used in that particular package rather than treating the label as a guarantee of accuracy or an additional service.
Distinguish a second bicycle from a follow-up
A second bicycle means another physical setup and may require separate measurements, parts or records. A follow-up might mean reviewing the same configuration, a short conversation, a new recording or another full appointment. A later transfer to a different bicycle can be a separately named service. Never assume that a two-bike package includes a later revisit, or that a follow-up includes a new bicycle.
Ask whether the offer applies to one rider, one bicycle and one configuration, and what ends that scope. New shoes, a different saddle, a different discipline or a new bicycle may be treated differently by the provider. Write down the actual answer instead of inventing a universal re-fit interval. A documented configuration can remain a useful historical record without becoming a promise of future support.
Keep parts, workshop labour and fit interpretation separate
The fitting fee may not include a saddle, stem, bars, shoes, cleats or workshop consumables. A component can also require installation work that is not part of the appointment. An estimate for a possible part is not a purchase instruction, compatibility approval or agreement to substitute a model. Obtain a separate explanation of any proposed item, its actual price and who authorizes the work.
Do not add a guessed parts allowance to make a quotation look complete. Preserve an unknown amount as unknown and ask whether there is a spending approval point before extra work begins. If the service includes no physical change, write that explicitly. If physical work is offered, clarify which work, documentation and responsibilities are included; this guide supplies neither a tightening instruction nor a completed safety inspection.
Name the report and the record you will receive
A screen shown during an appointment, a list of final coordinates, a video file and a written explanation are different deliverables. Ask which one you keep and whether it identifies the bicycle, observed configuration, measurement endpoints, units and unresolved questions. A number without its reference is harder to reuse than a named observation, regardless of the price paid.
Find out how a record is delivered, when it is available, whether corrections are possible and what access remains if a link expires. Do not assume an indefinitely hosted dashboard, downloadable video or importable backup. When sharing a record with another person, decide what is needed and avoid forwarding unnecessary personal material. Your own downloaded copy may also be synchronized by your browser, device or file service.
Compare two fictional quotations without inventing a winner
The following GBP examples are invented solely to explain quotation reading; they are not offers from the providers above. Quote A lists a base session and a separate review charge but leaves a potentially required workshop charge unanswered. Quote B explicitly includes its stated workshop scope and separately prices its stated follow-up. Neither supplies parts or establishes whether either service answers your own question.
Known line items can be added, but a subtotal is not a full total when a relevant charge is unresolved. Included at zero means the fictional offer explicitly includes that line; it does not mean the work has no value. Quote B’s resolved listed-service total still excludes personal travel and any later change of scope. No difference here is a saving, a quality score, a recommendation or evidence that two packages are equivalent.
Fictional · not a provider offer
Fictional quote A
- Named base session, one bicycle
- GBP 200
- One separately named review
- GBP 40
- Potentially required workshop labour
- Not stated — unresolved
- Known line-item subtotal
- GBP 240
- Complete listed-service total
- Unresolved — not GBP 240
GBP240 is only a known subtotal. The relevant workshop charge is unresolved; no complete listed-service total is available. Parts, travel and any later scope change are not quoted.
Fictional · not a provider offer
Fictional quote B
- Named base session, one bicycle
- GBP 230
- One separately named follow-up
- GBP 60
- Exactly stated workshop scope included
- Explicitly included — GBP 0
- Known line-item subtotal
- GBP 290
- Complete listed-service total
- GBP 290, only the stated scope
GBP290 resolves these three fictional listed service lines only. No parts are planned or supplied in this example. Travel and later changes of scope remain outside it; this is not a cheaper/better verdict.
Ask what follow-up actually includes
Record the window, method, number of contacts and purpose of the follow-up, together with the condition that makes it included or separately charged. Ask whether the same person will review the material and whether a reply, appointment or new report is promised. A phrase such as support included does not by itself answer any of those questions.
Keep the agreed starting configuration and any subsequent observations distinguishable. A new image or a later bicycle change can fall outside the original service. Before requesting more work, ask whether it changes the quotation. An application’s saved comparison or a record of rider-reported experience is not proof that a professional reviewed it, that a review was delivered or that an intervention caused a benefit.
Confirm booking conditions before making a commitment
Ask for the final named service, currency, stated tax treatment, deposit if any, balance timing and how additional work is approved. Confirm the provider’s actual arrangements for rescheduling, cancellation, a missed appointment and a service that cannot proceed. These are questions to resolve with that provider, not a statement of a universal legal entitlement or an interpretation of a contract.
Check what you are expected to bring and whether the bicycle needs preparation before the visit. Avoid paying travel or committing to equipment on the strength of an old listing screenshot. The dated cards in this guide cannot confirm a slot, book a service, preserve a quoted fee or check changes to a provider’s conditions. Opening an external source is separate from any later booking or acceptance.
If a reply changes one line, retain the earlier offer separately and identify which complete version is now being discussed. A new follow-up arrangement does not silently amend a previously named bicycle count or parts allowance. Ask whether a quoted amount has a stated validity period and whether a later configuration change requires another quotation. Keep any unresolved answer visible until the responsible provider confirms it; a personal note that you expect something is not that confirmation.
Understand the free-tool boundary
All public OpenBikeFit tools are free, but they do different jobs from a purchased human service. A body-input calculator returns model-based estimates from declarations. A camera workflow estimates projected movement under a recording protocol. A blank bicycle worksheet provides spaces for a physical record. None means that a qualified person has assessed you, installed equipment, reviewed your data or accepted responsibility for a conclusion.
You do not have to complete a free tool before choosing a human service, and a free result does not establish that a paid appointment is necessary or unnecessary. This guide does not assess health or injury concerns and does not present a fitting service as medical care. Balance IT’s separately agreed B2B work concerns software or workshop workflows, not a rider-fitting consultation bundled with these public tools.
Leave with a scoped next step rather than a purchase recommendation
First compare the question, intended output and unanswered scope. If an offer is incomplete, ask for clarification; do not silently fill it with assumptions from another provider. Keep the response with its date and identify any conditions that might change the fee. A useful outcome can be deciding that you do not yet have enough information to compare two quotations.
Use the separate method-selection guide to understand calculator, video and human-review evidence. Use the blank worksheet only if you want a non-personal template for bicycle observations; its 33 fields are not a quotation form or a clinical intake. Browse the free tools deliberately, with their existing access and data notices. No example value or service choice is carried into them from this page.
Practical questions
Frequently asked questions
What is a normal price for a bike fit?
This guide does not estimate a market average. The dated examples describe particular providers, currencies and packages. Ask for the actual service scope and written current price; a short consultation, two-bike appointment and later revisit are different offers.
Is a more expensive fit more accurate?
Price and technology labels do not establish measurement accuracy or a better personal outcome. Compare what is observed, what is delivered, how limitations are explained and who is responsible for the agreed work. This page neither certifies nor ranks providers.
Does a bike-fitting fee include replacement parts?
Only if the actual offer says so. Keep components, consumables and workshop labour separate from interpretation and reporting. An unanswered amount stays unresolved, not zero, and an item estimate does not authorize buying or installing it.
Is a second-bike service the same as follow-up?
No. Another bicycle, a later transfer, review of the same configuration and a full revisit can have separate conditions and fees. Record the rider, bicycle, appointment and scope attached to each line.
Can I compare quotations in different currencies?
Not by sorting the unconverted numbers. This guide keeps each original currency and performs no exchange-rate conversion. Even a conversion would not make different inclusions, fees, travel or service responsibilities equivalent.
What should I ask about follow-up?
Ask about the time window, number and kind of contacts, material reviewed, person responsible, promised output and conditions that create another charge. A generic support label is not a complete answer.
Do I have to try an app before booking a person?
No. A free software estimate is not a prerequisite, medical screening or proof that a particular service is needed. Choose by the actual question and scope; OpenBikeFit does not arrange or include a personal fitting consultation.
Does this page book, quote or send anything for me?
No. These are static reading examples. The fixed links carry no measurements or local identifiers. A later external booking, sharing of personal material or acceptance is a separate deliberate action with that provider.
